This comes from released versions, which is the best we can do in the
absence of public version control or mailing lists with patches
published.

I've done my best to gather the original release dates from release
notes or file timestamps.

I attempted to recreate the stable branches of development that went off
from the main development, but I'm sure it won't exactly match what
happened.

The author email addresses are the most recent known, and thus are
anachronistic.

Some releases had CRLF newlines, while others had LF newlines. I've
converted all to LF newlines to reduce the amount of diff noise.
